Auto-reporting

Do you manage multiple Intralink servers?
Auto-reporting can help keep track of their status and remaining space.

If you work with multiple Intralink servers, it can be useful to check their status without logging in to each individual machine & running the DSMU reports. For example, if you see the database space passing 80% capacity, you can resize before problems occur...

The following batch script method automatically reports the total number of objects & the database space summary, calling "ilink_object_report" & "runrpt ilinkspace" (both included with a standard Intralink server installation).

There's another benefit - an "All Objects" Report is generated, allowing you to correlate vault filenames with their "real-life" equivalents (in case of file loss or server failure).

"dbreport.bat" - change names in { brackets }

This script references a couple of input files (no spaces after any of these lines):

"input-obj.txt"

(add more lines of "fschangeme" if you have multiple fileservers, eg: replication, etc)

"input-space.txt"

The resulting text files contain summaries of Intralink objects and space reports.
I combine these in an ASP page, getting a weekly overview of multiple Intralink servers.
You can soon see how quick each server is growing, and when it's time to resize...
