Hi folks. My name is Gerry Cahill and I'm a III Degree Black Belt and National Instructor with GTF Scotland.
A young lad named Jaye Carroll came to my Dojang many years ago and asked if I would teach him Taekwon Do. I agreed and Jaye proved to be a hard working, diligent student. Time went on and over the years as I got to know Jaye and his family I came to have a very high regard for him, as I do for all my students. I instinctively knew that he was extra special though and had a very real natural talent for Taekwon-Do. He was a genuine World Champion in the making.
Sadly on February 6th 2006 a tragic accident befell Jaye and his future remains uncertain. He has been in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee since then and although he is not now at deaths door he remains in a very serious but stable condition.
I could write screeds about Jaye. About his dedication and commitment, he's a 2nd Gup now. His sparring prowess, his grace, agility, fearlessness and beautiful techniques. How hard he worked to learn his patterns or the fact that he'd help anyone at anytime yet he's only 13. How when he sparred a girl he'd let her lead him a merry dance and he'd never once lay a glove on her.
Jaye is loved by all his fellow Students and Instructors and our deepest sympathies are extended to his Mum Claire, his Dad Raimie and his wee brother Raimie.
We all miss him so very much - especially me.
